Valeria Vanzani è nata il 13 dicembre del 1994, giorno del secondo più importante sciame meteorico (le “stelle cadenti”) dell’anno, le Geminidi, dopo quello delle Perseidi a metà agosto. Fin da piccola sente fortissimo il tema della giustizia e la chiamata ad essere il cambiamento che vorrebbe vedere nel mondo, diventando in primis scrittrice e viaggiatrice, e poi giornalista, scalatrice ed archeoastronoma. Ma in casa deve lottare contro una famiglia androcratica ed oppressiva, a scuola contro il bullismo e l’emarginazione, e infine quando inizia l’università tutto il dolore subito si materializza nel suo corpo nella fibromialgia, una malattia cronica altamente invalidante, ma non riconosciuta dal servizio sanitario. Riesce a studiare per un anno ad Heidelberg (Germania) e a trascorrere tre settimane in Kenya, ma la malattia la costringe a restare bloccata a Padova (Italia) e la mancanza di una rete sociale le impedisce di realizzare i propri sogni e di avere giustizia.
Ma il sistema di dominio non ha l’ultima parola sulla nostra identità e sulla nostra vita. Per questo Valeria è una scrittrice autopubblicata, una giornalista senza tesserino, un’archeoastronoma senza specializzazione, una viaggiatrice bloccata in città, una scalatrice con fibromialgia. Perché se facciamo un passo oltre il cono luce degli schemi mentali e sociale che ci imprigionano, scopriamo che il dolore e la violenza non sono scritti né in un libro divino né nei nostri geni, che sono una scelta deliberata che l’umanità può fare o non fare. E forse la verità è che Valeria, una minoranza nella minoranza, è sempre vissuta fuori dal cono luce, e la sua missione è comunicare il mondo che esiste all’esterno, trattando di parità di genere e società di partnership, fibromialgia e dolore cronico, universo e archeoastronomia, ambiente, teologia.

Valeria Vanzani was born on 13th December 1994, day of the second most important meteor shower (“shooting stars”) of the year, Geminids, after the Perseids at half August. Since she was a child, she has felt deeply the topic of justice and the calling to be the change she wished to see in the world, becoming first of all writer and traveller, and then journalist, climber and archaeoastronomer. But at home she had to fight against an androcratic and oppressive family, at school against bullying and marginalisation, and finally, when she started university, all the pain she had endured manifested itself in her body as fibromyalgia, a very debilitating chronic pathology, not recognised by healthcare service. She managed to study one year in Heidelberg (Germany) and to spend three weeks in Kenya, but her illness has forced her to stay stuck in Padova (Italy) and the lack of social support has prevented her to realise her dreams and obtain justice.
But the domination system doesn’t have the final say about our identity and our life. This is why Valeria is a self-publishing writer, a journalist without press card, an archaeoastronomer without specialisation, a traveller blocked in her city, a climber with fibromyalgia. Because if we take a step beyond the light cone of social and mental schemes that imprison us, we find out that pain and violence are written neither in a divine book nor in our genes, that they are a deliberate choice that humanity may or may not make. And maybe the truth is that Valeria, a minority within a minority, has always lived outside the light cone, and her mission is to communicate the outside world, dealing with gender equality and partnership society, fibromyalgia and chronic pain, universe and archaeoastronomy, climate, theology.
